These are pictures of Porcelain Tiles and Ceramic Tiles, in glazed and polished features and are typical examples of Floor and Wall Tiles which can be used either in your bathroom, kitchen, or living room.

The difference between a porcelain tile and a ceramic tile lies in its ability of low water absorption rate of 0.5% as defined by American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) C373.

Another thing to note is that Tiles have grades of durability, usually 1 through 5. 5 being the better ones for flooring. There are two specific types of tile features to look out for when flooring; they are glazed and polished tiles.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GLAZED TILES AND POLISHED TILES

  1. Difference on the standards.
There are certain differences between the polished tile and glazed tile on the standard and size.Polished tile that is mostly used in sitting room and the like , is one kind of large tile with the generally size of 600 mm-800 mm. While the glazed tile is one kind of small tile with the general size of 300 mm-300 mm.
  2. Difference on colour.
The polished tile’s color is unitary with little big change. The colours on the tile varies not much, but the story is different on the glazed tile. The glazed tile is glazed after printing the designs so it is more bright-coloured and also unlimited on colour. There is no problem with red, black, yellow, blue, green or purple.
  3. Difference on lines.
The lines between polished tile and glazed tile are varied. The veins on the former can not be made pretty small while veins on the latter can be as thin as the thread on the needle.

  4. Difference on the raw brick.
Adobe is the key in distinguishing polished tile and glazed tile. Colour permeates the tile so colour differs between the surface and the 1-2 mm’s place below the surface. The story varies entirely with glazed tile. Colour can not permeate the brick. Looking at the tile’ size the layers on the glazed tile are distinct and the layer of glaze can be seen clearly. Given here is only one thin coloured layer that is glazed tile for sure.
  5. Difference on wear-proof.
The glazed tile is just covered with one layer of glaze on the polished tile. In comparison it is more bright and penetrating but not so wear-proof as the polished tile.It is the thick crystal that makes the polished tile’s surface more wear-resisting while the glazed tile’s surface is very thin and not that much wear-proof, it’s just one layer of glaze.
  6. Difference on dirt-proof.
Polished tile is fit for using in the most indoor rooms except wash room and kitchen. Uneven air holes remained while manufacturing polished tiles which shiner filth making it easy to penetrate the surface by pollutants, and unable to save the situation after pouring tea onto the polished tile.
  7. Difference on price.
Glazed tile does better in simulation. It incorporates the merits of the imitations of ancient bricks as well as the polished tile. The tile is polished based on the glazed tile. It has more complex craft with both the glazed tiles rich full colour and the brightness and cleanness of polished tile. So the price is higher than glazed tile.

GLAZED CLAY TILE AND CONTEMPORARY DESIGN.

H-Line wall tiles are high quality traditional glazed tiles with a contemporary look. These tiles offer ample variety, coordinating with mosaics and the H-Line glass collection. The 3×6 size is timeless and luxurious whereas the 4×16 is more modern.

Natural Porcelain Tile. A.k.a. “technical porcelain”, “unglazed porcelain”, “unpolished porcelain”, or “through-body porcelain”. Natural porcelain is, as the name implies, porcelain that has not been glazed or polished. These tiles are made of porcelain through and through. Laying porcelain or ceramic tile outside is typically not recommended.
